Become a ROAM Member
What is Roam?
ROAM stands for the Reciprocal Organization of Associated Museums. Museums can
become members of ROAM to offer exclusive benefits to their members whose membership
is $100 or more annually. This will apply to OHM’s $150-level Canoe Club and above. The
higher the membership level, the more people can access ROAM benefits.
How does it work?
When you join a ROAM museum at a qualifying membership level, you immediately have
access to benefits like free admission or discounts on admission, gift shops, cafes, etc. at over
500 museums across the United States and Canada. There are even some qualifying
museums in Mexico, Colombia, Panama, the Cayman Islands, and England. A full list of
participating museums is available online and at our front desk. ROAM includes museums
across all disciplines: art, natural history, science, history and heritage, botanical gardens,
and more.
At OHM, members will receive a personalized membership card. If your membership level is
qualified for ROAM, you will get a special sticker on your card so that when you visit
another participating museum, you have proof of eligibility for benefits. You will get a new
membership card with a sticker each time you renew your annual membership. You will not
be able to use your ROAM benefits with an expired card.
What benefits are available?
The benefits that a ROAM member receives will be at the discretion of each individual
museum and you are encouraged to check the website or call the institution you plan on
visiting to learn what benefits are available. For example, some organizations have
restrictions on special exhibitions or events.
Because OHM is already free to enter, anyone who visits the museum and presents a valid
ROAM card/sticker will receive a predetermined discount at the gift shop and for ticketed
events. We will have a sign at the front desk indicating we participate in ROAM so that
patrons are aware they may qualify for benefits if they are a member of another participating
museum.
