On February 21st, Oconee History Museum will open the temporary exhibit “The Stairs We’ve Climbed: Black History in Oconee County” in honor of Black History Month. This exhibit features over 100 years of history in the black community focusing on education and accomplishments of individuals and groups.
“We have been working hard to showcase the histories of Oconee County communities that have been underrepresented in the museum space,” says Director/Curator Jennifer Moss. “We are honored to put on this exhibit that reflects the triumphs and accomplishments of the Black community in Oconee County.”
This exhibit is curated by Oconee History Museum Assistant Curator Kelsie Patton. “Kelsie has dedicated a tremendous amount of time and research into developing this exhibit”, says Moss. The exhibit will run through mid-April.
