Bring your lunch and learn about Cherokee history with Dr. Dave LaVere
Since the origin of the clans Cherokee women have always been the foundational cornerstone of Cherokee society. Before the invasion by Europeans, Cherokee women were respected, equal, able to hold positions of responsibility and participated in matters of the utmost importance. After the invasion women’s roles changed dramatically overtime and at times they were reduced to second class citizens. Undeterred, however, Cherokee women proved resilient, resourceful, proactive and persistent reclaiming their lost status and rising to the highest levels of responsibility in Cherokee society.
